WORKSHOPS: THEATRE GAMES AND IMPROVS/LET’S MAKE A PLAY TODAY
On stage and in life, it helps to be clear, confident and prepared. Our short and long-range programs use theatre arts to teach important social emotional life skills, too, like confidence, communication, leadership, perseverance and collaboration. Great for younger kids, too! With a minimum of 10 classes, we can even each teach kids 8-12 to write and perform their own short play!
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS
Strategies to help teachers improve test scores and liven up the classroom by using the arts to teach core curriculum. Designed and delivered by a 25-year veteran of Houston ISD!
THE EXPRESS APPROACH
Putting on a show requires more skills than just acting, writing, directing and design. Students have to be able to effectively express themselves, work well with others, lead when required, solve problems, set goals and follow through, take responsibility for their choices and stand up and be heard.
Express workshops use the fundamentals of theatre to teach these valuable life skills in fun and supportive ways. At the conclusion of the residencies, students perform a rollicking display of the stagecraft and life skills they’ve learned – from a scene or two o a full-scale play, depending on the length of the residency. Our goal is to help participants be better students, artists, family members and citizens by sharpening their creativity, expression, self-awareness and people skills.
You can add or subtract to our roster of skills according to what you’d like your students to focus on.
We offer everything from single sessions to full residencies.
